A breakthrough for the monitoring and analysis of high-bitrate broadcast media traffic

The increasingly distributed nature of broadcasting, uniquely enabled by the transition to IP, is especially facilitated by the VB440. The insight it provides is easily and instantaneously available from any location, giving complete flexibility in, for example, remote production scenarios. With support for interface speeds including 10, 25, 40, 50 and up to 100 Gigabit on dual interfaces, even the largest of media networks can be accommodated with analysis of SD, HD i and p, HD HDR, 4K and 4K HDR and above. ST2022-7 redundancy is also monitored and analysed with ports connected to both primary and secondary networks. PTP is provided with ST2059-2 clock analysis, clock source detection/listing and clock accuracy and class, providing troubleshooting and continuous monitoring of critical clocking in a production network. The VB440 supports incredibly high bitrates. Uncompressed 1080p is a 3 Gb signal with 2.4-2.6 Gb packets – which a 10Gb link can easily handle. 4K resolution is a 12 Gb signal – more than can be handled over a 10 Gb link. Uncompressed 4K needs at least a 25 Gb network. As the industry moves towards even higher resolutions, uncompressed 8K will require 48 Gb of bandwidth. The VB440 has been demonstrated to be able to handle loads more than twice this amount with precise accuracy, that is essential for very high bandwidth networks. The VB440 IP Probe won not only the TV Technology Best of Show Award, but also the NAB Show 2019 Product of the Year Award, which recognizes the most significant and promising new products and technologies being showcased by exhibitors.
