BrightFrame doubles down on PMC monitoring at second Dolby Atmos facility
BrightFrame, a state-of-the-art immersive audio facility for music and post-production in New Orleans, has expanded its footprint with the launch of a new facility in Los Angeles. Mirroring its flagship studio in New Orleans, the Los Angeles location features a state-of-the-art 9.1.4 Dolby Atmos mixing environment centred around PMC studio monitors, renowned for creating immersive audio environments in some of the world’s most demanding studios. The opening of BrightFrame Los Angeles underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to delivering world-class sound for film, TV, music and podcast production.
Located in Burbank at the heart of the city’s media corridor, BrightFrame Los Angeles is owned by Dr Jenny Mains, who launched the company’s New Orleans facility in November 2024 together with the company’s partner and lead engineer, Erick Bardales. The technical design and integration of both was overseen by Bardales in collaboration with RSPE Audio Solutions. Purpose-built for music mixing, film and TV post-production, ADR, dialogue editing, voiceover work and vocal production, the new facility is also equipped for writing sessions, music production and vocal tracking.
Central to the facility is a 9.1.4 Dolby Atmos monitoring system consisting of PMC IB2S XBD-AII active twin cabinet high-end reference monitors for the LCR channels, PMC ci65in-wall speakers for front wides, side surrounds and overheads and PMC ci140s for rear surrounds, powered by LEA Professional Connect Series Dante amplifiers. Four PMC 8-2 SUB active subwoofers provide the low frequency channel. RSPE led the full Atmos room integration, from speaker layout to acoustic treatment and signal flow, adhering to Dolby’s stringent specifications. The setup also encompasses an Avid S6 M40 control surface, an Avid MTRX II with Thunderbolt connectivity, a 16-channel AD/DA Lynx Aurora (n) which routes mixes into an SSL Sigma summing mixer, a Pro Tools HDX system and a comprehensive selection of microphones, preamps and outboard equipment, while ASC’s acoustic treatment ensures a finely tuned, neutral monitoring environment.
“Every element of this room was carefully considered, from speaker selection and placement to acoustic treatment, to ensure accuracy and translation across all formats,” said Russ Belttary, founder of RSPE Audio Solutions. “It’s a space purpose built for high-level work and to deliver world-class results.”
Added Bardales: “This new BrightFrame facility has been designed to meet the technical and workflow requirements of professionals working across multiple formats. “Within weeks of completing the build, we hosted Bart Schoudel, Selena Gomez’s vocal producer, who mixed tracks for the new Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco project right here in the room.”
Gomez’s camp was so pleased with those first mixes that Bardales was asked to mix the rest of the album in Atmos, including the Deluxe versions, which he describes as “a strong start and a clear validation of the space. We’re looking forward to opening our doors to more exciting projects.”
BrightFrame’s original New Orleans facility, also designed and integrated by RSPE Audio Solutions and Bardales, features a Dolby Atmos mix stage equipped with PMC 8-2 active three-way studio monitors for the LCR channels, PMC ci65s for front wides, side and rear surrounds and ci45s as overheads powered by LEA Professional Connect Series Dante amplifiers and dual PMC 8-2 SUB subwoofers for the low frequency channel. The setup is integrated with an Avid S6 M40 control surface, Avid MTRX interface and Pro Tools HDX. BrightFrame New Orleans also offers a stereo mix and production studio equipped with PMC 8-2s and a conference room installed with PMC ci45s powered by LEA amplifiers.
Together, BrightFrame’s New Orleans and Los Angeles studios embody a unified vision, delivering exceptional immersive sound with PMC’s industry-leading monitoring technology.
