PBT EU have launched the new EXEcutor 21 Channel in-a-Box. The power-efficient EXEcutor 21 has been upgraded with brand new features designed to revolutionise how broadcasters, television stations, production studios and post-production companies adapt and operate at levels that fully optimise their productivity. With the COVID-19 health emergency compelling many broadcasters and television staff to work remotely, the team at PBT EU was motivated to further develop innovative online multi-channel functionalities to streamline efficiency and to see them through the start of the decade ahead.

The robust and customisable EXEcutor line is already highly regarded as a dependable backbone that supports broadcasters with an invaluable cost-efficient, multi-playout and multi-ingest platform server solution that delivers a reliable and unique software-defined hardware turnkey system. In today’s market, Channel-in-a-Box solutions are more sophisticated than ever before. PBT EU’s unique complete EXEcutor Channel-in-a-Box solution provides reliable bespoke playout facilities that not only guarantees quality output, but also consistency and effortless accessibility. The EXEcutor 21 is a simple and yet elegant solution that serves TV channels cost-effectively and ultimately enhances the viewer’s experience.

In line with celebrating the successful consolidation with PlayBox Neo 20 technology, the comprehensive EXEcutor range now includes a vast array of new features and options, complemented with an extendable 2-year hardware warranty combined with a special RMA service package for premium customers. Furthermore, significant functionalities have boosted the intuitive EXEcutor 21, of which some of the many benefits include enriched software and hardware features. To briefly summarise, the EXEcutor 21 version comes with improved integrated Input/Output architecture for ingest and playout including support of UHD, HD, SD ingest and playback, NDI, AJA and Blackmagic Decklink SDI Inputs and Outputs.

Other new features include simultaneous outputs in different video standards and frame rates that are transmitted from the same source. SRT output is supported, as well as playout while ingesting takes place. EXEcutor 21 enables the mixing of different media formats, frame rates and resolutions in a single playlist, and has multiple simultaneous outputs – including IP and SDI, with compatibility across a vast variety of compression formats such as MPEG-2, DV, DVCAM, DVCPro, DVCPro 50, DVCPro HD, IMX, XDCAM, HDCAM, AVC/H.264, HEVC/H.265, XAVC, Apple ProRes, DNxHD, AVC-Intra, and many others. The new upgrade supports MPEG-2 (PS/TS), AVI, MOV, MP4, MPX OP1a, and WMV. It allows for on-air subtitling burning, multi-channel audio support, along with built-in content transfer and replications of ingested media to other storage or network folders, including integrated multi-viewer and REST API.

PBT EU’s Broadcast Engineer and Support Expert Emil Pavlov emphasises the importance of keeping up to date with current trends as the industry experiences rapid transformation, “By providing advanced facilities for ingest and media management, titling and graphics, as well as playout and scheduling, our EXEcutor 21 broadcast servers provide a new generation of GPU acceleration in a "TV Channel-in-a-Box" processing solution. It is versatile by the fact that it can be optimised to provide any combination of component services using world-renowned PlayBox software such as Neo 20, to create efficient, scalable, and flexible production pipelines .”

Emil continues, “Over the course of this year we have seen how the pandemic has forced a large proportion of TV channel workforces to work remotely. We therefore understand how vital it is to offer the flexibility of integrated web-based multi-channel functionalities to ensure that customers can continue to operate and run their broadcasts without interruption. In addition, PBT EU’s new EXEcutor 21 vastly reduces costs without affecting server performance. Combined with our dedicated 24/7 customer support, we continue to technically evolve our solution offerings to meet the complex challenges that the industry faces now, and in the upcoming years that lie ahead.”

CEO of PBT EU Ivanka Vassileva confirms, “PBT EU continues to develop unique performance-leading solutions and customisable engineering services that empower broadcast production professionals to operate proficiently at the forefront of digital environments. We have always been a client-oriented team at PBT EU with a broad global footprint. As a result, our customers’ ongoing achievements fuels our success which makes for the solid relationships we value. In return we provide our customers with vital tools to stay on top. The bottom line is that broadcasters need to be prepared not to leave essential updates and upgrades too late and risk being left behind by their competitors. We continue to deliver reliable and efficient solutions to remedy that risk.”
